Cobram Tip Fees Calculator

I noticed a need to simplify how disposal fees are calculated for different locations in Australia. To help with this, I built a tool that automates the process, saving you the hassle of manual data collection.

You can try the calculator below. I’d love to hear your thoughts or feedback—feel free to send me a message.

If you’re heading to Cobram Landfill, it helps to have a quick way to estimate your cost before you arrive. The Cobram Tip Fees Calculator is built for that. It lets you add the fees that apply to your visit (especially the per-tonne general waste charges and any public weighbridge fees) and shows an instant total.

This is an estimate tool. Your final cost can depend on the site operator’s assessment and the measured weight at the weighbridge.

What this calculator is best for

Cobram’s pricing (from the list you provided) is mainly driven by:

  • General waste charged per tonne
  • Optional public weighbridge fees per vehicle

So the calculator is designed to help you:

  • Enter a weight in tonnes (or convert from kg → tonnes using the built-in helper)
  • Add the correct fee line(s)
  • See a clear total before you go

The Cobram fees included in the calculator

General waste (municipal landfill) — per tonne

  • Commercial: $350.35 per tonne
  • Commercial outside the shire: $519.75 per tonne

Public weighbridge — per vehicle

  • Light vehicle (tare mass up to 4.5 tonnes): $12.00
  • Heavy vehicle (tare mass over 4.5 tonnes): $24.00
  • Gross and tare vehicles: $33.00

How to use the Cobram Tip Fees Calculator

Step 1: Choose the fee type

Use the Fee type dropdown.

If you’re dumping general waste, pick either:

  • “General waste — Commercial”, or
  • “General waste — Commercial outside the shire”

If you’re using the weighbridge, choose the weighbridge line that fits your vehicle/visit.

Step 2: Enter your quantity

  • For per tonne items, quantity is in tonnes.
  • For weighbridge items, quantity is usually 1 vehicle.

If you only know kilograms, use the built-in helper:

  • Enter kg (example: 750 kg)
  • Click Convert
  • Click Use as quantity to place the tonnes value into the calculator

Step 3: Click “Add to total”

Your items appear in the list. Add more lines if needed.

Step 4: Remove anything you don’t need

Tap the × next to an item to remove it.

Simple examples (so you can sanity-check your estimate)

Example A: Commercial general waste, 0.75 tonnes, light vehicle weighbridge

  • General waste: 0.75 × $350.35 = $262.76
  • Weighbridge (light vehicle): $12.00
  • Estimated total: $274.76

Example B: Commercial outside the shire, 0.75 tonnes, light vehicle weighbridge

  • General waste: 0.75 × $519.75 = $389.81
  • Weighbridge (light vehicle): $12.00
  • Estimated total: $401.81

(Your final result depends on the actual measured weight and what fees apply to your visit.)

FAQ

Does the calculator give an exact price?
No. It’s an estimate based on the listed fees. If your weight is different from your estimate, your total will change.

What if I don’t know my weight?
Use your best guess (or past weighbridge tickets if you have them). If you know kg, convert to tonnes using the helper.

Do I always pay a weighbridge fee?
Not always. Only add it if it applies to your visit. If you’re unsure which weighbridge line applies, ask the site operator.
