Hi, I’m Christian L. Dam — mechanical engineer, traveler, and creator of Yourtipcalculator.com.

I’ve spent years visiting both the East Coast and West Coast of the United States, exploring cities, restaurants, cafés, bars, theme parks, and all kinds of everyday places. One thing that always confused me, no matter where I went, was how much to tip. Every state, every service, and every situation seemed to have different expectations — and getting it wrong always felt awkward.

After experiencing the American tipping culture first-hand, and constantly asking myself “What’s the right amount here?”, I decided to build something simple, accurate, and helpful for everyone:
a set of fast, easy-to-use tip calculators and clear guides for tipping in different industries.

My goal is to make tipping less stressful — whether you’re traveling, eating out, taking a taxi, staying at a hotel, or just want to understand what’s considered fair based on service quality and local norms.

When I’m not working on useful tools like this, I study Mechanical Engineering, train for Ironman triathlons, and explore new projects that blend problem-solving, technology, and real-life needs.
